The county sent out the forms last week. Just have to get my truck inspected and attend the drivers meeting. Same one I went to last year, etc.

Hope we get some more snow this year. Anyone making predictions yet?

    what's the drivers meeting about?

    Safety meeting basically.
Watch out for fire hydrants and man-hole covers.
If you hit somebody, you're on your own.
If you don't show up when called, you won't be called again...
They also hand out the routes and assign the route leaders, etc...

State handles the major roads through the county.
County government handles the secondary and residential stuff.
With my little truck, all I do is residential streets/neighborhoods...
So I'm also one of the last ones they call.

Had not hear of one in omaha Ne, I did hear about a driving plow test in Grand Island Ne before but never went, I been doing most is reading and try out my truck or loader tractor, been using loader for long time before got plow on truck..

    Curious, whats the hourly rate??

Also, why do they use 7.5' plows on a county road??

I have other plow, this 7.5 so I can get in the arrowed and small drive ways..

Since all they have me doing is cul-de-sacs and narrow neighborhood residential streets, the 7.5' works out fine for me. I'm sure if I had a bigger blade, they'd have me doing some bigger roads.

When I'm released from the county work, I go do a couple parking lots, where I wish I had a bigger plow, but I get the job done.

...as long as the truck doesn't break down... Like it did on me a couple times last winter... :realmad:
