So far I've only bought salt from Home Depot. This year I have enough accounts that I should think about other options. I'm not sure where I should go or what I should buy, but in general, my experience is newbies and homeowners shop at Home Depot and as you learn more you end up buying at more specialized stores. Is their a particular type of salt that is the most popular with professionals and where would I go to get it?

I buy skids of 80lb bags of rock salt from a local water center. They carry different sized bags as well as other types of ice melt. Check around for a locally owned business and see about buying whole skids at a time, most likely you will get a better price.
