Yesterday I bought a 1995 Suburban 2500 Utility w/135000 miles, Fire dept truck since new. It has 4:11 gearing. Never had that low of gearing before. It seems like it drags a little starting out and stopping. First thought was brakes dragging, pedal is great and brakes evenly. 2nd thought was the low gearing and just not used to that. Those with low gearing, is this just typical?

Too busy with ice & snow right now, plan to pull wheels to chech brakes for pad and shoe release. Thanks for your input.

No,that's not typical, just the opposite. With 4:11s,you should be jumping out of the gate, that's what low gearing does.
