does anyone use anything other than the Snoway fluid for their pumps. Was wondering if there's anything else to use.

    From the manual

Hydraulic unit comes from factory charged with Type 5606. If additional oil is added it
must be compatible with Type 5606.
NOTE: Type 5606 oil is rated to – 60° F, when Type 5606
is not available Exxon UNIVIS J13 or equivalent may be
    used.

Do not mix dissimilar fluids, if you are not using Snoway oil you must drain the system and refill. You can use any of the premium plow fluids if Snoway fluid is not available. If you are changing fluid type/manufacturer flush the unit with Meyer Hyrda-flush between draining and refilling.

So, if it isn't Snoway 5606 fluid, it shouldn't be added to the system?

Correct, if snoway fluid is what is in the unit now. How long since you serviced the fluids?

My plow was new this Fall. I'd like to flush and refill the system in the Spring, though.

If you have a new plow, use Snoway fluid. You have a warranty on that unit but dis-similar fluid problems aren't covered:D. Plus since you have a new unit and Snoway sends the proper fluid with each new unit (something not all other manufacturers do:cool:) you should have Snoway fluid in the unit at this time.

There was a forum about hydraulic fluid started awhile ago. Whatever fluid you use make sure to completely drain and refill.
Sno-Way is a great fluid and I would use it in a new plow.
