Can someone tell me how to add fluid to a Fisher MM1 with insta-act pump. Should it be filled with the blade up or down?

Down. If you fill it with the blade up, you wil overfill it. Not a huge deal if you do, it will just blow out the breather. Make sure you have the newer gray breather.

The breather cap is very important. It's main purpose is to keep moisture out of the reservoir. The "new" gray cap does a better job than the old one. It will allow more pressure to build in the airspace of the reservoir, which means less air is getting in. Less air means less moisture.
