Why do the fisher and western componenets lok the same? Are they backwards compatible? Is fisher the only blade with a trip edge?

They both use the same pumps, headlights, and wiring. The mounting system is different, so they are not interchangeable, and the fishers are trip edge while the westerns are full trip. The exception to this is the western Vee Plows, which are trip edge like the fishers

No Diamond invented the trip edge (as well as the Vee blade) other makers are Hiniker, Diamond (meyer) Boss, Snoway i know i missed somebody.

Haha I know what you mean. Why dont you just focus on one brand and bash other brands without having any knowledge of those other brands???

actually my original reason for this was to find some plow wings for my 8 foot hd fisher..... i like the idea of them being removable for only when i need them.... any suggestions?

There are the "pro wings," not made by fisher, and you have to drill the blade face for them. The best wings that ive seen on fishers are custom made. I wanted a set for my 7.5 footer, but couldnt find an option that thrilled me, so instead i am upgrading to a 9 footer this year

Here's a link to the Diamond history site, had to find it. Looks a lot like a Fisher. Long before Fisher the company existed, do you think maybe Dean owned one?

The diamond blades look pretty damn stout to me, its just a bummer to me that they use a meyer mount and pump, because Im not a huge meyer fan. I like how the trip springs are easier to change than the fishers because they are in tension instead of compression.
