    HI all,

    I have a 1996 chevy 2500 diesel. 4x4.

Im noticing just today that there is a loud knocking like noise when Im cracking the engine over to start.

I tried it once or twice, the truck hasnt started, yet, so not sure if the noise continues if when its on.

    Any thoughts ?

Someone mentioned a vac. pump on another site, not sure though.

    Thanks for your replies.

Before you crank it again, get under the front and check your harmonic balancer. Make sure there is no play and rubber insert looks ok. It can bust your crank if bad.

    Hi Guys,

    I got the started yesterday.
No problem the noise is gone.

This morning, I went to start the truck & I noticed it wouldnt start again.
but as yesterday again, a fuse was blown.

I know theres a short somewhere but Im wondering what this is fuse for.

Its in the fuse box in the engine compartment.
its a 20 amp fuse, and its listed as ECM-B

    Whats is that ?
That fuse keeps on blowing when I try to start the truck.

shes trying to turn over but doesnt start.

    Any help would be appreciated,
