i was watching a video on youtube were a person was using a hino 338 with a plow on the front to plow residential neighborhoods, i was wondering if anyone uses a similar type truck or setup, like a international 4300 4400 freightliner m2 106 or anything like that, just curious

I plow town roads with a 1995 Ford L9000 wheeler with a Everest dust pan and wing and Down Easter hopper sander. It's strictly a plow truck now but, it used to haul gravel and hot top in the Summer when Maine DOT owned it.

I do..This is an old S 1900 IL DOT truck I bought for $3300.00 + 700.00 for 10 ft western plow + 1500.00 for stainless salter. It's not a prom queen but it's a date to the dance

My customers would sh*t if they saw me on their drives with that. Explaining that our tractor/blower combo wasn't that heavy was hard enough.

I used to use a 98 chevy 3500 dump truck with blizzard 810, it did well enough. The biggest problem you'll run into is visibility out the sides towards back. Hard to see cars coming or what you may be backing into. I.e. fire hydrants, mail boxes, etc...

If you are plowing drives with a medium duty truck you have serious issues lol

When you say residential neighborhoods do you mean roads or drives?
Roads absolutely, great type of machine for that. Drives way to big.
For doing large sites its amazing.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGPk8KDwrRY&list=UUL-U4f1BeuAm9g-Glza8eFw&feature=share&index=28

It's a little bit of a pain in the tight spots and it's a little bit to heavy for hot top driveways when the ground is soft but, other than that I would call it the perfect driveway rig. Thumbs Up

I used to drive a FL80 quite a bit and I think they would make a great plow truck.

Maine DOT is going to auctioning off some FL80's soon. They are all CDL trucks though.

A small lot it wouldn't work well but, they do turn wicked sharp.

That seems like nothing to pay for that, how many miles?

It has 127,000 in 31 years..like the others have said it's great in big lots especially with all the salt in can hold. I don't do residential work but wouldn't recommend this for that :dizzy:
