Should I get a shift kit for my 2000 Dodge Ram 2500? It shifts hard from 1 to 2, and 2 to 3. It has 180,000 miles on it, but it was rebuilt at 160,000. Any advice for me?

diesel or gas? I went with a different valve body and matched torque converter when I did a rebuild. But I have read alot of post where people did shift kits and liked them.

The basic purpose of a shift kit is to increase line pressure to increase the holding power of the clutch packs and firm up shifts. Not sure how that would help you if you are concerned about firm shifts.

    It's a 5.7 gas engine.

If its a 2000, than you have a 5.9 gas. I don't see a shift kit being a bad idea.
