  1. What is the best chemical to apply for:

I know something like plain salt will eat away at cement. I read somewhere that there is other/better granules to use besides rock salt.

Yes, I am new. All I have is a quad with a blade for little ol ladies and such right now. Have a 1500 GMC 4x4 with an automatic 6 cyc. I figure this is a sissy rig, so no blade till I get at least a 3/4 ton 4x4.

We use salt for blacktop, and for sidewalks CMA products. (Calcium Magnesium Acetate).

Make sure your CMA is 100%.

Products that "contain" CMA are 90%+ rock salt.

I know plenty of guys who plow with a half ton, including me (mine is a heavy half ton but not much different.)
