De-Icer Mark-Up ?

Discussion in 'Ice Management' started by BeastMaster, Dec 16, 2010.

  1. About what do you fellows mark up your "salt" ? Percentage I mean.

I have Wayne's book, from Profits Unlimited, but it suggests nothing about how to mark up your de-icing materials.

I am currently buying retail bagged. Didn't think I'd used much, but have already used 1,000 lbs. on two snow events in 3 days. So...I'll be buying by the pallet next year !

Morton Salt in Cincinnati isn't far from me at all. Might I try there for before the season deals ? Are they "in the ball park" ? They bring the salt in via barges on the Ohio River to their Riverside terminal.

At the very minium I triple my salt cost, when selling to the customer. So if I buy a bag for 4 dollars, I sell it spread for at least 12 dollars.
