My 7'-6" Standard plow calls for a 3/8" thick cutting edge (#49076). A couple of places I've checked suggest using a 1/2" thick edge (#49088) instead. Other than the additional weight, is there any advantage of a 1/2" over a 3/8" cutting edge?

It should last about a third longer.

I got one at Central Parts for $77.25. The 3/8" was a couple of bucks more.

For the money go with the 1/2"...I know a lot of guys even go with 5/8". Maybe be a bit overkill for your plow but it will last longer

I did since it was actually cheaper than the 3/8. Just finished bolting it on too! ;)

There was a 2-piece 5/8" edge on the plow but it was all worn out. With the blade on the ground the ends were about 1-1/2" high. Looked like a smiley face! :)
