Controlled Loader-Bucket Sanding - Not salt

Have a dirt/gravel residential driveway that needs sanding (not salting or ice melt) at times and available bulk pile of 5% salt/sand mix to spread with a SS loader bucket. Sometime can get it fairly even, but many times not as jiggle-dumping can still be all-or-nothing with lumpy product.

Is there a product or has someone rigged up something simple to be able to scoop up a bucket load and have more control of evenly spreading over the needed sections of driveway? Do not need to cast-spread it sideways.

I know Thomas (of Canada) has or had a self-loading hydraulic sander for SS machines for a couple grand, but was looking for something simpler/cheaper.
