I bought a '97 1500 this past summer w/ a 318 in it as a back-up plow truck. The tranny acted fine when I bought it but now that its cold outside it doesn't want to work in reverse very well. It starts out fine but, when reaching the small incline onto the street it slips. The when shifting into forward it engages hard.
The fluid looks pink and is full.
Am I looking at a complete rebuild or si there an easy fix?

i had the same problem with mine i pulled the overdive unit off the back of the trans and it had a broken snap ring i replaced the clutchecs and the snap and wave spring and its great now cost about 75.00 from the trans shop for parts and took about 2 hrs to fix.
