I'm thinking of purchasing a newer 1/2 ton for residential plowing(new to 60,000 miles).

Should I look for the best price independent of whether it's a on a Chevrolet Silverado and other C/K1500, Dodge Ram 1500 , Ford F150, or GMC Sierra C/K1500?

Also should I consider Chevrolet S-10, Dodge Dakota, or Ford Ranger for plowing drives?

I'm sure you guys have a lot of opinions.

    Thanks

3/4 ton Chevy, Ford, Dodge, GMc?

After reading the treads in the Truck section I'm convinced that my best bet is a 3/4 ton.

But I still want opinions on manufactures.

    Thanks

    Z71 advantages?

    What are the Z71 advantages?

Is it imperative I get a Z71 package or can it just have to be a 3/4 ton 4x4?

    Thanks

Z71 is the off road package for the 1/2 ton Chevy/GMC trucks... as far as I know you cannot get that package on the 3/4 ton and up. The package is skid plates and stiffer shocks.

so what would be better a 1/2 ton Z-71 or my 2004 1/2 ton 4x4 with manual selectable ride control?
I know when I turn it on, it rides a lot rougher and stiffer then a Z-71.

Get a 3/4 GMC... or a Chevy is essentially the same thing. Make sure it has a plow pckg. Stay away from those Dodge's.....

    I couldn't PM you

I tried to PM you but couldn't. I've got a very dependable daily driver truck with a 8' plow that I'm selling. Many extras for plowing. Call me at (609) 743-1496 if interested. Mike
