changing trans fluid on 02 2500hd

    How do i know how much fluid to put in this thing?

    did you just drop the pan? If so probably start with 4 litres, start the truck, check level while it is running and add more as required. Just remember to let the fluid flow down the tube for a minute or so in order to get a proper reading on the stick

    just pan drop filter change.

    The same amount as you took out.

    As mentioned, start with 4 quarts. Start the truck and check the level. Add in small quantities, and give it a few minutes between additions for the tube to drain down to get an accurate reading. Be sure to use full synthetic Dexron 6 or Mobil1 ATF. Slightly underfull is better than overfull.

    is it suppose to be dex 6? i thought this ne was suppose to get dex 3

    as per a technical service bulletin the fluid has been changed from dex 3 to dex 6, which is synthetic
