I will be getting a 1996 4wd F-250 Super Duty w/460 and Boss V plow. 1 owner 90,000 miles alum rims xlt interior reg cab $6500.:D My question is weather i can put a different trans in I hear the 4 speed auto is weak. Does anyone know if I could put a C6 in it?Or does anyone have any ideas how to beef up the trans that is in it?
    Thanks Gary

i would think you could put a c6 in there, but you will lose alot of fuel economy by losing the od.those E4OD's have been around a while now,i have a reman jasper in mine and have had good luck, but i'm sure that a aftermarket company has updates avalible.

When it does go and it will, have it rebuilt correctly. There is a lot of beefing up in those trannies that can be done. Also put an additional tranny cooler in and a temp gauge to monitor how hot it gets. After these trannies are built right they can and will last plenty long. Check out BTS trannies online. Brian's Truck shop. He has one of the best reputations for rebuilding these trannies.
