I have an older fully hydraulic speedcast setup I custom fabbed onto my 1993 Suburban 454. I have a pulley off the crank, then the hyd. pump up by the alternator. I'm having trouble finding a 3/8" v-belt in the +/- 59" I need. All my parts store has are 1/2" belts, which ride high on the pullies.

I know farm / garden belts come in long lengths. Can I use one of these belts for running my pump, or should I just stick with the 1/2" wide belt that rides over the edge of each groove in the pulley??

I DO have an adjustable idler pulley, which rides on the backside of the belt, that I use for adjusting tension / taking up slack.
