I used to have a 79 LUV, so I know what you mean

Forget the 4.... there used to be a company that made a kit to swap in a Buick V6. That would be a much better option.

There is not much that you can get for that Isuzu 1.8L motor....

The factory 4 speed manual trans sucks too. The ratios are too far apart.

Off road the truck was fun, but on the road, it just plain sucked.

    reply about engine

I was in my first mud drag yesterday and I won my frist 2 races and I'm hooked. I was the only woman in my class 4 cyl, and one of 3 woman out of 100 drivers, but I was the only one who didn't get stuck in the mud. It was great! the guy's told me I should keep it 4 cyl but try to boost it a bit, so I,m tring to do that. my luv is a stick shift, has a 3" lift and 32" super mud swampers. it is a 4x4
