Any thoughts on Blizzard power plow vs the Western wide out? Ive used Blizzard for years and love them but Ive heard western has a better system.

I've heare good things about blizzard but have never used them. I hear the wide out is a really nice plow but have never used it. However I do have 2 western plows now and love both of them.

To start with. Predd have a stout a-frame, wing blades and a thicker main cutting edge. There wing boxes are boxes. The angle cylinders are bigger. The pwr hitch system is beefier. Everything is fully welded nit "stiched". I know stiched can be stronger, but in plows stiched means water and crud getting in. Hydraulics were out sourced.
All in all predd blizzards are beefier

Ph1= power hitch one before Douglas dynamics bought them
Dd= Douglas dynamics....the makers/owners of Western, fisher and blizzard

Basically same plow except the lift system.
From what I have read and researched the blizzards are meant to have been over made. So the dd blizzards aren't as stout.
It's just a question of what do you want? A chain with a full trip or blade trip. Or a full trip with a power hitch not a chain?
IMO go with a Wideout or xls.

Correct me if im wrong but both the power plow and wide out have a full trip and fisher has a blade trip. I like the full blade trip..its always worked for me. However I do like the chain system. Ive had problems with the power hitch arm wearing thin and the plow sagging after 3 seasons on the Blizzards.

I thought that's what I said. Western and blizzard have full trip. Yes I will say that the hitch wears and the chain does not

The blizzards have steel edges on the wings so they actually cut, the edges on the wings for the other two are poly. So take that for what it is. They cant handle the wear of actually cutting snow with the wings because they took so much steel away from them.

I pulled the trigger on the Blizzard 8-10 and the heavy duty 8'6-11'. Thanks for the input guys but I decided that if its not broken, dont fix it and stayed with Blizzard.

But you bought a dd blizzard. Not an original blizzard, correct?
