I am getting ready to custom build a backdrag edge for my diamond plow and the cutting edge that i bought for the front is a two piece. i had a scrap piece of cutting edge for the same plow and i tried to weld it together but it is a PITA. So i was thinking of using a piece of 1/2" thick steel that i had lying around would that work or should i get something thicker.

the reason it was a B!tch and a half to weld the cutting edge is because it is hardened steel and is very tough to weld.
