Replacing the front axle shaft seals 02 sierra 1500. Can't get the drivers side shaft off. Tried slide hammer and beating on it with a 2x4. No go

They can be a bear to extract sometimes but the methods you're using are how it's done.

When you're pulling or tapping out on the axle- if it doesn't go on the first hit, stop and tap it inward again before trying to tap it out once again. Simply pounding or pulling out continuiously does nothing but destroy the clip or peel the clip off the end of the axle, destroying the axle or at the very least the clip in the process.

This back and forth motion will help "pop" the clip fully down into its groove on the axle thus allowing it to slide out through the side gear.
