Axel GVW

    Is the front gross axel weight determined by the size or diameter of the axel ? Like a half ton truck would have a 11/4" axel and a 3/4 ton would have a 13/4" dia axel ? stupid question I know..but I don't know the anwer..

    nope not at all.

    its detrmined by lots of factors like brakes / suspension parts / axle parts / springs .

    Heavier trucks typically have larger axle shafts, but the weight of the vehicle isnt carried by the front axle shafts anyways.
