So there's new app out that lets people hire a plow contractor from their phone. Anyone got any first hand experience with it? The big red flag I see is they set the prices; starting at $25 and going up to $45.

My thoughts. The idea behind it is pretty cool, but they probably are only hiring guys with rusted out trucks and that do sloppy work.

Found the below statement on their website. So basically during big storms the rates go up to make it more attractive to the contractor?

OUR PRICING IS BASED ON DRIVEWAY LENGTH. DURING TIMES OF INTENSE DEMAND, OUR RATES MAY CHANGE TO KEEP PLOWS AVAILABLE.

I believe $45 is for a large driveway.

    Haha.

Driveway length....so they don't go by issues such as where to put snow, the surface, the elevation, possible hazards or width? Or cars, or snow type. Geniuses.

I'm just guessing but I'd say at least 70%.

Holy.... So you'd get $10 or so on their smallest drives? You're basically working for free then. They just entered the twin cities area, so I'll keep my eyes peeled for any evidence.

Plenty of people. The same ones I lose $50 plow accounts to for $15 cash!

    Already have been.

We've been talking about it in the MN snow thread for awhile now.

I wonder how long this company will last? Quality is going to be their biggest issue.
