i have a 2002 ford ranger 2wd 3.0 liter. Serpintine belt started squeeling at 14k miles. Put a new one on started squeeling 2k miles later. Left it on there delt with it. 35 k miles serp. belt broke. Dealership found idler pulley bad. Replaced it and new serp. belt. Next day belt started squealing worse than ever.

Is this a common problem with the rangers?

Keep taking it back. Become a pain in the a$$ till it is fixed. Tell them firt time is understandable but after that there is no excuse. Tell them you need a car well they are working on yours. Be a pain and they will fix it just to get rid of you.
