I'm considering a plow attatchment again for my truck but not sure it will fit my current budjet or make and model. I have a '95 Dodge Ram with only about 60k miles on it, runs like new, but it's not a 4x4. Would this truck be ok to do plowing on say 20-40 residentials? Also, is it possible to find some kind of plow for under $1,000 or would I have to go used to get that kinda price?

I wouldnt try and plow with a 2WD, just asking for trouble. Secondly if you find a plow for <$1k its probably a POS. JMO

Thanks snofarmer for referring me to my old thread. I wasn't sure where it was. Well, I guess using this truck is out. If next year I get a 4x4, it doesn't need be a manual tran though right? Is a 4x4 with an automatic tran ok for plowing?

Back in the day all people had were sticks, so one one used auto's. But today I think guys do alot more plowing. I can't imagine doing over 50 res drives with a clutch. An auto will work fine, just put a cooler on the tranny if it doesn't have a plow prep package.

Definetly get 4WD. I had a front axle break on me last year and had to finish my last 2 drives in 2WD, not very fun.
