Since if figure we have about another 5 weeks of salty roads, I decided to do a real world test on our 2001 F-150 7700. I wire wheeled down the frame in the front till it was nice and shiny. I then applied Fluid Film. Their is some small rust spots still, we will see what happens. At the end of 5 weeks I will wipe it off. Here it is.

Well I did the exact same thing to the other side frame rail, only this time it is with WD-40. I ground it down, and applied liberal amounts of WD to it. We shall see which one holds up. ;)

    I'm interested too...

I had sprayed my old Ariens snow blower down with the FF last year, and over the summer (sitting in a shed) all the exposed metal RUSTED. First time it's ever shown rust too. Also the same thing with a fertilizer spreader with a metal frame. I had cleaned it up, let it dry good and then coated it with FF. several months later I looked at it and it had more rust on it than ever! The FF made it rust like I had left it coated with fertilizer in a humid environment. It's a very funny looking rust too, almost furry.

Hopefully engine degrease an a nice coating of POR-15, toped off with FF will work after the test.

Sorry but I find that hard to believe. You sure the FF hasn't collected dust and it will just spay off clean with water pressure?

Hmmmm, furry rust? Somehow I don't think it is rust.

On this pump unit for 4 years

We coated this pump unit 4 years ago when it was in for service. Re sprayed part of it a year ago when we did a valve repair. So much for those pesky Blizzard plows and the pumps down near the ground rusting away................. Oh and the rust on the end of the valve nuts...........Unit was a year old with no coating on it when we sprayed it

Looks like you should have coated the blade while you were at it.

    haha fluid film already won!

I just coated my blizzard plow in fluid film for the summer storage, its awesome to watch it eat the rust off the cutting edge just amazing stuff.

well lets be relistic, wd40 isnt made to stop rust. its main purpous is Water Displacement, so this is not a fair test. :)
