Couldn't find the answer to this specific question.... I'm using bulk salt but think magic salt is too expensive (or the -10 stuff that you spray on).... I got a really good deal on 3 ton of cacl this summer (4.17 a bag!) and I would like to mix my own blend for the really cold times that straight salt just won't do the work.... any ideas on the % amount of cacl to sodium cl I should mix?

Trying reading the label of some other blended mixes. I'd guess that you probably only need 20% mix. The Mag turns quicker which then allows the salt to work sooner. You only need it to kick and turn into a brine.

good point... heck I was also just thinking of putting some cacl bags in the sander and just "topcoat" the sodium cl area with the cacl... anyone every done that? again this wouldn't be a everyday occurance just when the temps are too low..... too late now but next year I'm looking more into liquids!
