How can someone bid 7k on a lot when it's going to cost 5k just to buy the salt? The numbers just don't add up.

Maybe they are a better salesmen then you and got them to pay extra for sale. Most likely they have a boss v plow

Maybe he made a error on his bid. Could be socialism. He will fade away when he wakes up.

Are you positive your numbers are correct?

How many acres is this place? That is a lot of salt.

It's seasonal and that includes walks. Enough walks I was going to leave my baby skid on site for.

Maybe they thought the salt would be an additional charge

That's the first thing I went to. I was a little high but not that much.

I spent 3 hours crunching numbers last night, just to see what calculation he might have used. He's just low, he's has to be banking on a light winter.

In my area 5k worth of salt is 71 tons.

Maybe he's giving away the plowing, so to speak, and has them paying tonnage on the salt?

    What is your theoretical bid?

I was high at 5k. It's closer to 4k. Bout 50 tons here. 1.5 ton per app, which is 1 hopper full for me. Lot with walks will take every bit of a full hopper.

There's simply no money for walks in the bid. Guys are really selling themselves short.

Do they sign your contract, or do you sign theirs?

So this is close to a 4 acre site?
