99 dodge transmission

    my brother is gettin a 99 dodge cummins and. he heard a rumor that after 1999 dodge put in a newer tranmission design to make it tougher is this true of is it really just a rumor

    No,they are pretty much the same design,although they did some minor updating from year to year.

    hey thanx for the advise it helps alot he wasnt sure about the tranny and if it would hold up if he got a plow

    Jake,like was said,the same trans has been used for 96-03 basically.There have been some minor software changes to them,most of that done during the 2000 model year.The 2000 and newer Cummins trannys are set up more aggressive as far as kickdowns,and they have nicer programming(they lock up wide open in 3rd,and 4th,and have a better shift patttern.) If he's plowing with a Cummins/Dodge,have your friend use N when idling,not park,and get the trans serviced frequently,along with band adjustments.
