I bought a 98 chevy dually 3500 diesel 4x4 mason dump last fall and put a new 8.5' western on it. It went through everything I could dish out and did great. I am considering getting something newer 04,05,or 06 but wondering if a 2500 non dually 4x4 extended/crew cab will have enough power to push a wider blade. Should I look for a 3500 or is a 2500 ok? Thanks in advance.

The power will be the same regardless. And even a 6.0 gasser will push an 8.5 plow like its not there.

    I agree a 6.0l won't even know there's a 8.5' blade in front of it.

Good to know. Was wondering if not having the extra set of tires would hinder a 2500's performance. I was also concerned about the front end weight of a 8.5' on a 2500 vs a
3500. I know a 1500 is out of the question but just needed more feedback.

The front ends are the same capacity for the most part. The rear duals will actually hinder plowing performance rather than help ;)

I push a 9 foot western with a 2500 quad cab, without any problems.
