hi everyone. I have a 2001 chevy 2500hd xted cab short box. When i put it into reverse there seems to be a delay before it engages. Is this a tranny issue or is there something else that i need to think about for this. Any input is appreciated. A brand new western MVP is going on this Nov 2 so i want to have some idea what this is before then.

Is this a 4L80 or an Allison??? The Allison trans has a slight delay going into reverse.

i do not know if it is an allison or a 4l80. I bought the truck earlier this year but it was only slight when i bought it. Now i notice it more maybe b/c we are getting closer to plow season. Yes it does happen every time i put it into reverse.
    thanks for all your replies

    Do you have a 6.0 liter engine(4l80e) Duramax(Allison) or 8.1 liter(probably Allison,but could be 4l80e)?????

With a 6.0 it should be an 4L80e...Very durable, normally quick to shift. Find a competent shop that can test it. probably a loose or bad sensor...
