maybe someone can shed some light, my rear end was almost a quart low on gear oil, it does not have any leaks anywhere, being gear oil to my knowledge it don't evaporate. any ideas where it went or what too check that i may have overlooked. its a 2005 chevy with 4:10 gears

An easy place to start would be to check the axle seals. I had an '02 with the same rear and one of them went bad. I changed them both to be safe. It wasnt a big leak and didnt leave much residual oil on the rim or brakes but i ended up just about a quart low.

If you have never checked the fluid until now, I can bet it was short filled at the factory. My Duramax was a quart and a half low when I got it....
