Hi everyone & thanks in advacne for any replies.

I currently run an older chevy 2500 diesel, 1996.

Im thinking of buying a newer 2007 - 2008 chevy 2500,, but a gas model.

    Any opinions ? advice ?

Fuel economy is very important (plowing & not) any numbers would be a great help.

things I should look for when purchasing ?

Thinking of installing a straight blade, 8 ft, western.

    Thanks again,

I have an 08 Diesel and an 01 Gasser. You are not going to get great mileage with the 6.0. Its a great motor but on my 01 I see 10-12mpg, plowing I get about 7. With my 08 Diesel I see 14-18. Plowing I get 11. A newer 6.0 might be a little better but cant be that much.

My 2007 2500HD 6.0L gets about 7mi per gal plowing. I might put on 2000 mi this winter, 285 gallons of gas. At $3.30 per gal thats ~$940 bucks. A diesel geeting 11 mi per gallon would need 181 gallons of fuel at $3.50 per gallon thats ~$636 bucks. So if you save ~$300 bucks for half the year and some in summer it might add up to be about the same over 20 years.

I have a Boss straight blade. The undercarrige bolts right on, put it on myself, just did the electrical also.
