Looking at buying a 2500HD with the 6.0 and putting a Western 8.5 foot MVP v-plow. Anybody have any complaints about this truck? I don't know much about Chevys. Been plowing with F-350 diesels all my life. Found a good deal on this Chevrolet.

Also, why is that on Westernplows.com using the quickmatch service, an 03 1500HD can handle an 8.5 v-plow but an 05 1500HD with the same rated axles cant...? Any ideas there?

    Thanks all.

U are not going to like the fuel miledge driving, or plowing espically coming from diesels. Other then that there a good plow truck.

Got it narrowed down to 3. An 04, 05, and 06. All under 55,000 miles. Looking to spend in the 17 to 25 thousand dollar range + a western 8 1/2 V plow. Any benefits of a crew cab over extended or vice versa?

And can anyone answer that one question to 1500HDs in 03 being able to hold a v plow but the 05s not?

I have an 05 GMC 2500HD with 6.0L. I love that friggin truck. It takes everything I throw at it and begs for more. I bought it brand new in Dec. 04 and have beat the hell out of it and never once had an issue in 5yrs and 85K miles.

Yeah, I know the mileage wont be great, but we have several diesels for towing trailers. And with a gas, save 30 to 40 cents per gallon too.
