My dad has a 2wD 2001 Chevy 1500 that has started stalling on start-up. Once it is running it runs fine. Does not do it all the time, could be warm or cold, just does it randomly. You may have to start 3 or 4 times till it stays running. It has the 4.8 engine, 140,000 miles, replaced fuel pump at 100,000. Friend has a scanner, plugged it in for me. No codes came up, no SES light on dash. Any ideas?? Truck runs down the road fine otherwise.

    stalling

you can start by cleaning the throttle body but in the end you might need intake manifold gaskets

Any difference if you give it some throttle while you try to start it?

scanner or code reader?...if scanner hook back up and check fuel pressure....might be bad regulator for pump

sharpcut, a way to verify for free is get the truck warm, and spray brake clean along the intake runners. If the gaskets are leaking , you will have a spike in rpm . Now, obviously don't empty a whole can of cleaner in the intake runner .
