I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500, when plowing the lights are dimming and the check gauges light comes on, it doesnt go all the way to zero but the lights dim out to where they are hardly on. I am thinking of upgrading my alternator. The only one I can find at the auto stores around here are 136 amps do they make anything bigger, and can I go to anything bigger without having to make modifications? Also would the bigger alternator and a yellow top optima battery make a big difference?

    Thanks for your help/

Just as long as your regulator is good. Dodge had the bright idea of putting the in the computer. I got one R&R from Excel at somewhere around 175 amp. Works great!!
