I will be picking up a 1996 F250 Crew Cab with the 460 V-8 and automatic transmission. In the past I have heard that only regular cab trucks should be used for plowing in 1996, but I think they were refering to the F150. I intend to mount a Snoway plow on this truck for some light duty plowing, but I was curious what Ford recomended back in 1996.

Can't say for sure, but if it has a gas engine you should be ok. The only thing working against you is the front end and your wheelbase. It is a short bed right. Long bed would be a 350. You will need to either add a leaf or replace your springs with stronger. The front end will run through ball joints pretty quickly.
