1981 gmc jimmy engine color

    I have the engine and trans. out. I need some help as to what color the factory painted the engine and the transmission. 1981 gmc jimmy Any help would be appreciated. thank you Richard

    Most truck engines of that period came in GM Blue (readily available in spray cans). As the paint 'cooked' over time and got oil leaks etc. they tend to look almost a greenish color.

    Blue was used from '77 to mid '80s

    cAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME IF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS ALSO BLUE? cAN ANYONE TELL ME THE COLOR OF THE TRANSMISSION ? THANKS YOU FOR THE HELP. RICHARD

    Yes, the intake was painted.

    The tranny I think is usually just bare cast aluminum. Impossible to keep clean. You could paint it grey...
