15 inch lift rod?

Good day. I have a MM1, circa 1998. Series A. The lift rod is fairly pitted so I ordered a new one. All the ones I see online are all 10 inches long. Imagine my surprise when I pulled out the current one and discovered it is 15 inches long.

I can find no mention of a 15inch lift rod on the net. Do I have some strange one-off or something? I drove over to the Fisher dealer this AM to inquire, but they are closed for the Holiday weekend.

    Anyone else run into this?

Unfortunately, I have 0 experience with your brand, but could it be that yours is 15" long total length, but when installed and fully extended, it has approximately 10" visible and thus, they are giving the stroke length? Just a thought.

Thanks, but what happened was I bought a 10 inch one, had it on my worktable, pulled out the current one and saw side by side that I had the issue. I have a picture but that phone is currently out of charge..

    Can you post a pic?
Could someone have put on an aftermarket cylinder at one time?
Only ones I'm finding that long are the angle rams

The rod you purchased is for an SEHP pump. You must have an Insta act pump, with a separate lift cylinder and hose... Correct?

No, I do not have a separate lift cylinder with hose.

Hmmm, now ya got me thinking.. I am the third owner of this plow. It was originally on a 1998 GMC 2500. I wonder if someone wanted a bit more lift and put a rod from an angle cylinder in to replace the original 10 inch cylinder? I might be able to ask the second owner of the truck whom I still see once in a while.

The GMC suffered frame rot a few years back and I transplanted the plow to a 1999 F-350 PowerStroke.

    Interesting...

Is the part number for the one you ordered a 26981?

Does the new ram fit in the housing properly?
Might just try it and run with it

    Sir, you are a genius.

When I just googled that part number I first saw 1-1/2 X 10 and then saw the end of the line, OAL 15 - 1/8. Yep, that is the puppy I want.

ROD ONLY ASSEMBLY 1-1/2X10 SAE PORT INCLUDES SPLIT BEARING OAL 15 - 1/8"

I'll hit the snowplow store on Monday AM and hope they have one.

    Again, thanks.
