Fisher X-blade 7.5' on a Silverado 1500

Would you put a 7.5' stainless X-blade on a '03 Chevy 1500 w/ Timbrens?

Thanks,
beatle78

We have an X blade on a F-150 7700 (250 LD) It is a little heavy for it, but it has held up to 3 years of commercial use. The FGVWR is a little higher than the Chevy. It is a very hefty plow.

hehe that made me laugh.

Is it the same 3 plug system as the regular HD blades?

I just looked and the weight of the 7.5' X-blade is 747lbs and the weight of the 8' HD is 717lbs.

I was told in another thread not to put the 8' HD plow on my truck.

Thoughts?

Same system.

Fisher only recommends the 7.6 HD, 7.6 Homesteader for your truck, the GVWR just isn't quite high enough. With Timbrens and a smart driver you should be fine.

In actuality, both plows are too heavy for your truck...

But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do..

If thats your only truck, and you need to plow, and those are the only blades you can get a hold of...do it up. Just don't plow like a idiot.

at the risk of being flammed, what do you consider plowing like an idiot?

I consider myself a conservative plower. I occasionally slam into a soft snowbank to push the snow back a little farther. Other then that I plow very steady and cautious on all of my driveways...

Shifting while still moving in the opposite direction, hitting unmovable obstacles, stuff like that.

I think your truck can handle a 7.5' X Blade with no probablems.

I yell at my wife for doing that in her minivan all the time. And I don't hit things that don't move.

OK, so I think I make the classification of a conservative driver.

I may just buy a 7.5' X-blade or 8' HD if I find the right deal.

Go for it! You won't be disappointed with an X-Blade.

Sorry bakerc8.

If you go with the 8'...you can always slap it on a bigger truck after you make some bread with the 1/2 ton...

I exhausted my search and the supply of quality plows is pretty much gone for this year. I drove to NY last night to pickup a 7.5' 3 plug MM1 plow to get me through the season.

Hopefully in the off season I can find a good MM2!
