Unhappy Plow Blade lifts but won't stay in up position when I let go of the switch.

Purchased a Ford F250 with an older Hinkier straight 8" blade. I really have no idea of the age of the plow and have not found any type of plaque in order to know what model it is. Last year when I used the plow everything worked with no problems with the exception of a cylinder leak. I removed the plow on a concrete driveway where it sat until this spring.

I moved this past spring and when I mounted the blade on the truck to move it, it would raise fine but will not lock in the transport position. You have to keep your finger on the switch, running the pump, in order for the blade to stay in the raised position.

It also will not angle right or left.... well it sort of jumps very slowly when you are holding the switch. And I do mean Veeeerrrryyy slowly!

I have checked fluid and removed to pump motor to ensure they are working. Has anyone had this problem in the past after letting the blade sit for a period of time?

Any suggestions on where to start?

Be sure you have a good connection on the plugs.

When you raise it and it drops does the controller change to orange or does it stay green?

Thank you for the suggestions. When I get a chance, I will check to make sure all the electrical connections are clean and try again. I will also watch the controller to see if the color changes as you suggest.

Alright the exact same thing happened to me on Sunday. Ran back to the shop and tossed in a new valve, guess what it still fell. Grabbed a spare controller and tossed on a new coil, still no go so I grabbed a spare plow. Fast forward to today on the back side (truck side) of the pump there are two hex heads the top one is a check valve. Pulled it out, couldn't see anything wrong so I just tossed in a new one, all fixed.

Low fluid would keep it from raising, not raising then falling. The oil would already be in the cylinder Hence a bad valve or in my case a bad check valve

On closer inspection the small o-ring was bad on the check valve. Cleaned it up, replaced all 3 o-rings and put it on the shelf as a spare.
