NEW YORK, NY (December 4, 2007) – JCB Construction Equipment, the world’s largest privately owned construction business, unveiled today the 60 MPH, state-of-the- art JCB High Mobility Engineer Excavator (HMEE), purpose-built for the U.S. Army and destined for deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan, where it will provide battlefield commanders with a myriad of logistics capabilities in front patrols. Built at JCB’s North American headquarters in Savannah, GA. JCB’s production contract with the U.S. Army is worth an estimated $209 million for 800 JCB HMEE military machines. A four-year service contract under negotiation has an estimated value of an additional $20 million.
Ive seen these running down the road in central Wisconsin. Some buddies and I were heading north to go riding ATV's and we got stuck behind a National Guard Convoy. In the hills the 2 lane roads had a slow lane, and of course while the humvees, that were doing about 40mph, didnt move over, so we passed a bunch of them in the right lane every chance we got. ANYWAY, there was a big gap and we caught up to another section of Army trucks. This time they were doing about 55, and sure enough leading this whole convoy was a bunch of backhoes. I had never seen anything like this and thought it was pretty bad azz.

During the october snowstorm we had 2 of them in town to help assit clearing roads. they spent 3 full days working to clear over 50 percent of are roads that were blocked by downed trees.
Everyday they came to eat at our firehouse as did all crews working in town. After given them a hard time about what they could be eating(mres) and some goodies it was ride time. You can'nt understand how awesome they are into you go for a ride. i can'nt talk about how fast it will go(online reports are close) but it will go that fast off road over rough ground. the models we had were fully armored the glass was 4" to 5" thick. The down side is mpg our guess is around 2.5 miles per gallon based on how much fuel they used over there stay in town. they fueled two times a day if not three.(our town is only 26 sq miles).
we had no power for 8 day's but the ride was well worth no power.
