Would they have burned it just so they wouldn't get caught with it or for no fingerprints maybe?

Post the surveillance video (as described in that news video) so we can see their pickup (though that was probably stolen too) and maybe their faces/clothes/etc.

they probably torched it so they couldn;t figure out how they started it. if they were in it for 10 minutes, they probably cut and programmed a key for it. thats about how long it takes

Sooo then police should be looking into some ford dealers with employees who have access to the key machines...

that would be almost every ford tech, people who used to be ford techs, or someone who could have bought a stolen machine

I know that with GM, key codes are pretty highly protected and we can see where it was pulled and the individual that pulled it. Every person with access to key codes has a specific ID code to enter when pulling one and it's all recorded. I don't know if Ford is the same way, but it's worth checking into. I'd think those trucks would be pretty hard to get started without a key...

exactly what is was thinking affekonig, i used to work at a caddy dealership and it was the same way. i cant see ford being as big as it is today not having something of the same procedure for their key system. just a thought....hopefully it all works out

That really sucks! I feel the pain. My plow was stolen from me this year! I'm keeping the new one under lock and key now and whatever else needed to keep it safe. FWIW... I work for a Ford dealer... The parts dept cuts keys according to VIN and the tech programs them. Coincidently, the Ford IDS system requires 10 minutes to gain security acces. Another thing is not all superdutys came with the PATS system. There is NO way they would've gotten it started with out a key if it had a PATS system. Another thing to consider is the possibility that the owner had a remote start installed. If that's the case the crook can just enter the vehicle and disassemble the dash, remove the module that holds the spare key transpoder, crack it open and voila, the crook now has a key to start and drive the truck away. On any of my remote start installs, I always disable the key that's in that box once all set by grinding it or cutting it off completely. All that's needed is the head. My guess is they probably took all the truck side equip too except the push plates. Maybe they will slip up and go to a dealer for something.
I hope the equipment is found! I will be on the look out myself. I HATE THIEVES!!!!

Unreal. I'm very curious how they got it started, if they know for sure yet.
