I think my first memory of snow plowing was riding with my parents friend in his truck when he did our driveway (country drive so it took more then 2 minutes). After that it was an atv with a plow. 01 Yamaha Wolverine with a 48" Cycle Country poly blade.

From there I picked up a 98 Chevy K1500 as my first truck. A year later I bought a '95 7.6' Western Unimount Pro with pro wings on it from GLS on here. I ran that truck and plow for 3 or 4 winters and sold it when the rust got to it.
Towards the end of my ownership, before I stripped everything off it to sell the truck and plow.

Right about the same time I set my 1500 up to plow I started driving a truck for another guy and when it was broke (6.0 psd, broken more then useable) I ran my own truck.
6.0 F350 I used to drive for the company. 9.2 Boss Poly V, SnowEx 8500.

Ended up switching companies I sub for, sold my k1500 and picked up the truck I'm currently driving. Picked up a used 9.2' Boss Poly Vee and kept the SnowEx 575 I had on my old truck. Going into my third winter with this setup.
Winter mode, cosmetics change slightly for the summer.

I started plowing for a friend who took a job at the local town's DPW, I plowed all of his account for 2 seasons and at the last snow event of the year the transmission of his truck failed. He decided to get out of the plow business and offered his 20 residential customers to me, I bought a plow for my 2500 and took over his route. since then we added a some trucks, a skid-steer and a backhoe and took on 25 more residential, 2 shopping malls,1 -2 acre commercial and 2 small commercial customers and did so over a 5 year time span

Then 2 years ago I got a job offer in VA and gave my commercial accounts to my father in law and brother in law and sold my residential account to a local friend /landscaper.

I plow snow maybe ones a year when I happen to be in NY to visit and love it when I do. We have been out of the business for 2 years now but I still have trouble sleeping when ever it there is snow in the forecast locally because my mind is wired to be alert and I can't seem to rid of that (it makes my wife laugh every time).

Winter of '08 we got hammered with snow. I shoveled my drive, I shoveled the sidewalks at work, I shoveled the drive for the little old lady next door. I shoveled and shoveled ...I decided right then I was getting a plow. I built a 48" plow for my 335 Polaris and ran that for 3 years (mostly for friends and family), it beat the hell out of shoveling, but it was still slow and cold. Last year I found an old 8 1/2' Meyer plow and built a truck to fit it. We had almost no snow last year, I still made a couple bucks ( and I didn't have to shovel my driveway). So this summer I shopped around and found an 8' Western, I am currently building a truck for that plow (I like building plow trucks) I also aquired a nice Craftsman snow blower this summer.
There you have it, 'Sno Problem LLC is born. 2 boat mechanics, 2 trucks, an ATV and a snow thrower. What could possibly go wrong?

i started plowing around 1990 to do year round service to my lawncare clients .seeing they wanted 1 company to do both services. i always stayed small and local to better serve my customers. but i still get excited every time the snow season is about to start. my wife thinks i have snow running thru my veins. so it is still enjoyable to do and seeing my customers every week saying thanks makes me feel good.
almost forgot can make i good living off of the business too.
