Those 7.3s seem to be a very loud engine over the other diesels out there. Im trying to get into an extended cab, we will see if it works out. Nice truck though, looks like you got a good price on it!

14-15 mpg in the city about 16 highway with the crew cab. the other 5.4 gets 10 no matter what haha. I love the engine never gave me a problem at all. The 2003 has 180,000 on it.

It's due to their injection system mainly. Their not much louder then the other options available at the time. The lb7 duramax's were quieter due to the common rail injection system but the cummins were just as loud if not louder until 03. I guess it's something you get used to over time and learn to not even notice.
nah looking for a project fisher 8.6 v that needs to be restored or needs work.
There is no 8.6 Fisher its either a 8.5' or 8'6". You got rid of a 7.3 because of the noise?You would prefer 1/2 the MPGs to be quieter can you just roll up the window.Those 5.4s biggets trouble is the exhaust manifolds and studs.
Both manifolds were done by a ford dealer first thing I checked. I have the receipt from the dealer. I bought the truck from a ford dealer out in vermont and the truck was bought brand new from there and was a 1 owner truck from an older gentleman. Interior is mint all tan leather. And that 7.3 I had an entire top end all new oem injectors, cups, gaskets, ipr, etc and the thing got around 8-9mpg and never got any better.
