View Full Version : fisher pump problem

My buddy has a fisher plow with a hydraulic belt driven off of the motor style pump. It angles really slow like 30 seconds from side to side, and it will not lift the plow. It will take the slack out off the chain and get tight but can't lift it. Is the pump just bad? Should he get it rebuilt or just get a new or what? Thanks for any help, I do not know anything about fisher plows.

I think pump pressure for the underhood-type pump is 1400-1700 PSI. You may want to have it checked at a Fisher dealer or a hydraulic supply type company. Hydraulic fluid under pressure can cut right through you, so be careful messing with the system if the engine is running.

There is also the possibility that the control cables are stretched, not allowing full valve movement.

I am assuming that the fluid level is full. (Fisher fluid or ATF)

One quick question. Is the drive belt tight? also is the pump fluid milky? if it is it denotes water in the system and you need to change the oil.
