Has any one run dry bulk salt through these spreaders? Looked all over the place but can't find an answer. Thanks!

Do you mean the SP8500 V Box? If so you should have no issue. I run bulk salt and sand through my SP1875 tailgate spreader without issue.

no, its the walk behind spreader. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=sp85+spreader&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=12354559646613505469&sa=X&ei=gXzFTrvBJMe42QXO8K3MBQ&ved=0CEMQ8wIwAw

I'm still exploring some more options though!

I have been running bulk salt in the walk behind snow ex spreader and it doesnt work very well. It will spread it but it is very hard on the gears and the cotter pins.. Make sure to carry extra cotter pins because you will break some. The agitatior doesnt like bulk salt either, mine broke the first time so I welded a hitch pin key (much bigger) onto the shaft and that seems to work pretty well. I would stay away from the bulk unless you have to use it like me to actually make some money on accounts that you have to under bid the dumb asses with no insurance. Stay with bagged salt for this spreader if all possible, you will save a lot of wear on the spreader.

Bulk salt bridges in the walk behinds....Stick with the bagged stuff!!!! Save a lot of grief and aggravation in the middle of the night!
